Daphne's nearly Done!

Happy to report in 48rows I will have the second strap done and Daphne will be totally wearable :) Finished the body the other night and tried it on; stunning fit :) I have pics too! lol

In other news, ie a little shameless backpatting, I weighed myself yesterday morning and since April 1st I've lost 41lbs!!! So proud of myself and I feel fantastic, which is most important I think. That and I'm healthier than I've been in absolute ages :) When I hit 30lbs gone I ordered 3 patterns from White Lies Designs (Joan McGowan-Michael), so I'm really tempted to cast on one of those beauties next. Only 19 more to go to my healthy age/height weight :)

Anywho, off to work soon.

Meet Daphne :)

I don't think anyone will be overly surprised that I haven't so much as looked at the Tempting sweater since my last post. All that ribbing is driving me looney tunes :P And I was up to Walmart on Thursday (waiting out some rain after a drs appointment) and lo and behold they had Red Heart Shimmer on clearance... so I bought 2 balls of black and 2 of purple after consulting my handy app and I have started the Daphne tank (knitty.com/ I really need to write down designers' names before I start writing a post). It's going nicely too :) This is a great pattern let me say. It's not difficult but it's a "pay attention to me" pattern. There's some short-row shaping, a basic stripe pattern plus the smocking pattern that gives the top its shape :) It's really a stunning piece :) Want to see pics? Of course you do! (currently listed on Ravelry as wedding top)
The photo shows a close up of the waist smocking.
Have to say, I'm really liking this yarn. It's very soft and easy to work with. But it's listed on the band and on Rav as a worsted weight/ medium and seriously I'm using a 3.25mm needle and it's not tight at all. I'd say it's more of a dk myself but that's my only quibble. Love the sparkle in it.  Thinking it'll be nice with a black skirt and heels for Roomie's cousin's wedding (that somehow I'm attending) in early Sept.
That's all the news here in my corner of the knitterverse!

Oh Mys

Soooo...

Yeah, I guess I'm just not very good at this whole blog thing. But I do have pics to share! And one is even an FO; we don't see too many of those around here lately. Remember, project details are all in my notebook on Ravelry username knit-dance-repeat

Let's start with said FO: Sweet Little Cats Paw v2.0 :) Got this done in May happily :) photo 1 is the front and photo 2 the back. I'm quite pleased

I have picked up Wingspan (Ravelry; designer's name eludes me) recently and done a bit more (photo 3). The constant garter st gets to me after a bit though.

Which is why I have Day Dreams in Lace otn :) (Knitter's magazine; Brooke Nico) Here's a close-up of the yoke (photo 4) and an in progress shot (photo 5). Am almost to the repeating section of chart C :)

Of course finishing SLCPv2.0 meant I *had* to cast on something new. I chose Tempting (knitty.com; again designer name is eluding me). And like the Wingspan, it is in a constant pattern throughout (in this case ribbing) which nearly puts me to sleep if I do it too long. *sigh* But I do have progress to show (photo 6). AND I bought ribbons to swap out according to my mood (photo 7). Ribbon is good incentive I think ;)

So that's the WIP line-up here in Newfoundland. Hope you enjoyed the tour ;)

Look Who's Back

With my new smart phone in hand, guess who found the blogger app lol

Now where to start? How about some project pics?

I started another "Sweet Little Cat's Paw" in January. Using Bernat Satin Sparkle in "platinum", the upper is similar to my green one in that I randomly placed cat's paws everywhere. For the bottom, I chose a garter stitch lace from a VK Spring/Summer pattern (#18 I think). This one will be short sleeved for warmer weather or those days when I don't need full sleeves. And now for the pics!

Houston, We Have A Problem (Again)

*sigh*

Not long after my last post, my computer upped and died.

Yeah, I know. It's always something, isn't it? And I remain computerless for the next while so unfortunately there won't be too many posts popping up over the next while either.

*sigh*

On to recent events:

Torbay250 was absolutley amazing :) We witnessed the return of Darrell Power to the stage with his GBS buddies :) Jimmy Rankin took time to joke with some fans :) The Trews blew us away :) And Great Big Sea completely ruled the night :) What an awesome weekend :) Well worth working 8 days in a row before and 7 days in a row after to make my schedule fit.

September 16th saw me & Roomie back in St. John's to see Sean McCann & Jeremy Fisher at the Ship. That was fun :) And if McCann ever claims he can't banter, he's lying through those gorgeous dimples. I got to have a picture with him after the show too :) It's framed and on my wall. He also signed my "Son of a Sailor" cd :) He thought it was cool that we both have accents in our names and stated "There aren't many of us; we need our own typewriters." I agreed whole-heartedly.

Unfortunately somewhere along the way this summer/fall, I've misplaced my knitting mojo :( I can't get interested in actually knitting anything. The pain in my wrist has gone away as mysteriously as it started, so it's not that. I look at my beautiful WIPs (the Wingspan, the Daydreams in Lace, etc) and I do want to finish them but I just can't pick them up. I even started a quick and easy project (Knotted Leaf Bag from Veronik Avery's book "Knitting 24/7") and am bogged at the handles; it's sitting with the others. This hasn't stopped me from queuing things on Rav of course and when I was at Mercer's a few weeks ago I bought a Paton's booklet (as well as the yarn for the ill-fated bag) *sigh*

Somewhere along the way I've lost my get up and go. This sounds weird considering I walk 6kms to work and am on my feet for 8 hours and then turn around and walk home. But the fact remains, I'm not knitting and still not dancing and I'm just not myself somehow. I'm actually a little scared I might never be. The quick and easy project that was supposed to help getting my knitting mojo back, tanked. I have no idea how to replace dancing. It seems I'm stuck in this weird limbo. *sigh* I have recently been trying to get my weight back under control. It went well for about three or four days; today so far, so good. I guess that's something.

Well that's it for now dear readers, if I still have any.

Pain

Well, those games are a little better than half over and that means that the Ravellenic Games are too.  Sadly, I don't see any medals in my future these games *sigh* I've been having trouble with my left wrist since June. The heat and humidity combined with work are making it painful to even move my hand, let alone actually use it for doing something. As things stand right now, I have half of the "Wings of Victory" completed; the socks aren't even cast-on. I'm sorry to let down my teams (Bob and Newfoundland/Labrador) but I'm starting to get a little scared that this isn't going away. I have plans to see a doctor asap. So for now I'm going to put up some pics I took of some projects and maybe one of Roomie's cat might slip in ;) lol

Here's the first triangle of the "Wings of Victory": Isn't the yarn striping cool? Love this; need to get a new pic uploaded though as I have 4 triangles done now
This is the "Circle Top" designed by Mari Lynn Patrick. I almost have the front done; alas I can't wear "almost" so I wore a tanktop and skirt to the show and this stayed safely at home
This is Cuddles. He loves to drink out of the toilet. The toilet had other ideas one day lmao

Where Has Time Got To?!

Seriously?! The Ravellenic Games start tonight!!!! Cast On is at 5:30pm here in Newfoundland!!  I'll be at work :P But I will cast-on my fabulous "Wings of Victory" (pattern: Wingspan; yarn: Elann Sock It To Me dankai) when I get home 10-ish.

And how is it possible that NEXT weekend is Torbay250?! I have to get the sweater I'm crocheting for that done, people!!!! (pattern: Circle Top, designer: Mari Lynn Patrick, magazine: VogueKnitting Crochet special issue 2012) I nearly have the front done and I plan to be creative with the back to make it more open and go faster ;) Leave it to me to improvise on a design when #1 I suck at crochet. #2 this is quite an advanced pattern for my skill set & to top it off #3 I have a serious deadline!!!!

I needs my head examined, people!!!!

In other news, the sun is shining, I have laundry to bring in off the line and kitty litter that needs scooping and I've been playing on Ravelry all morning boosting my fabulous teams. It's all about priorities ;) lol

That's all the news that's fit to print today, my dears!
