I composed a tweet the other day that I couldn't send due to my phone still not being fixed yet. It read "Peace= a mug of Read My Lips tea from @DAVIDSTEA + a beautiful shawl pattern by @RomiDesigns being knit in pretty yarn from @KnitPicks + 3 sleeping cats + sunshine" It really summed up my quiet morning: tea, knitting, cats and sunshine.
This afternoon, I'm knitting on my "Ardrum" in the lovely merino/silk blend I chose ages ago and enjoying a nice mug of tea (Toasted Walnut this time; I had some Apple Custard earlier). The cats are doing their cat things.
I finished the "Alcyone" I was working on, plus a little bag I started back in 2012. I'm not sure why I set it aside when all I had left on it was the handles. Oh well, it's done now; a charming little bag called "Leafy Knot Clutch" (Veronik Avery; book "24/7 Knitting"). I'm down to 2 WIPs: my "Ardrum" and the bag I'm designing. Which is odd for me, but I've really finished up a lot of things so far this year. 14 FOs since January; I'm pretty sure that's a record for me! There might be 1 or 2 more that I can move from "hibernating" status to active WIPs but I'm really getting things caught up. I guess spending my days sitting on my butt can be useful ;)
Friday (June 10) was the one year mark since "The Big Fall". In that time, I've progressed from excruciating pain and fear of what might be wrong with me to quiet acceptance that pain reminds me not to overdo things and my balance is bad and I need to use a cane especially out of the house. I'm still trying to get into physio but the new idiot system is more frustrating than the waiting was! But it is what it is and I can't change it. I'm trying to walk 5 days a week, even if it's just to the Post Office and back (roughly 1 kilometer, round trip). I take my pills, do what I can around the house. And I knit. And compose blogposts on paper that I can type up when I go to the library next ;)
I've been doing that a lot lately; blogging on paper. Some may find their way here, others won't. I have a feeling I'll hang onto them either way. They're good for a laugh if nothing else!
I plan on revamping my page of "Patterns Mentioned in this Blog" soon. Direct links for the web-based ones, like those published on Knitty.com, for sure. The Ravelry downloads, I think I'll just leave as they are. Same with those from books and magazines. I need to clean up the blogs and other links too. Freshen things up now that Spring appears to be approaching my lovely Rock in the sea.
So, be on the lookout for some minor tweaks to this blog and let me know if there's anything you'd like to see here. As always, you can check out more details of my knitting projects on Ravelry; find me there as knit-dance-repeat ;)

I Have Pictures!!! And other news
I know things have been a bit dull around here. All my project talk with no pictures. Today I'm correcting that!! I has pictures to post of most of my lovelies of this year :)
First up, a shot of me wearing my "January Amusement"
This beauty (the sweater; please ignore the model) is my rendition of Jordana Paige's "Amused". Turned out fabulous and only took me 8 days to knit!!

My Habs scarf isn't as red and white as I'd have liked this season but I did finish it off rather nicely as shown in the next 2 pics:

This brings me to the latest projects, 2 of which are FOs!!
First is the one I called "Mitties" ("Hidden Gusset" by Mona Drager in the First Fall 2014 edition of knitty.com). So quick!! I started one evening (May 27 to be exact) and finished the next afternoon! The pic shows them in progress:
And then I turned around and knit a second pair for K:
Mine were from an ancient ball of Opal I've had in the stash since... I'm not sure when lol! K's were done in Bernat Sox.
And my latest pretty, as I believe I mentioned last time I posted, is Romi Hill's "Alcyone" (project name "Back to the Future") :) I'm just over the halfway point :) Much less in the pic but it gives you the idea:
The yarn is KnitPicks Hawthorne Kettle Dyed in "Delphinium"; it ranges from blues into blue-purples. And depending on the light it looks really purple :) Loving it!
And you might've noticed by the title that I have news...
New pattern in my Ravelry shop as of about an hour and a half ago :) It's a trivet and coasters set that I called "Garden Blooms". A quick little something to use up some cotton I have in the stash and I think it's pretty cute.

I promised a project round-up...
And here it is :) I'll start with my FO's for 2016 (so far) and go from there.
First project finished this year was my "January Amusement". This was a reknit of Jordana Paige's "Amused" (Knitty, Winter 2008) since I was unable to finish the other one I started. I used 980 yds of Red Heart Comfort, color Jade. Love how this turned out :) It's very cozy. I did modify it slightly in that I made the front opening a bit deeper so it wasn't at the widest point of my bust and I also added an inch's worth of sts into the sides, under the arms, to allow a little more ease for the girls as well. Started January 6 and finished the 14th! As I said, love how this turned out :)
Next up was my "Hap-Hazard" (my head; not available until I get a few bugs worked out). I used 879 yds of Bernat Satin Sparkle in Amethyst for this one. I like how it turned out for the most part but it needs a few tweaks here and there. And a reknit in a blockable fiber! I think that's the main thing with this one. I finished it on February 2.
I decided to give myself a wee challenge on this next one. My "Gansey Style Bunnyhug" ("East Neuk Hoodie" by Kristin Orme, Knit Scene Fall 2014) took 1700 yds of Bernat Satin in Lavender. This one I modified right from the get go. First, the hood wasn't happening. And since the back was plain, I moved the patterns from the back of the hood to the back of the sweater. This one took me a little longer (started February 6, finished March 7) but was well worth the wait :) This has quickly become my favorite thing to pull on if I feel a little chill at home or want an extra layer under my jacket when I head out.
"My Preciousss" started in September as my entry for that month's Rominette's KAL, the goal being to knit with some yarn you'd been saving/hoarding for whatever reason. I chose the skein that Lindsay hand-dyed for my birthday a few years back. Originally, I cast on Romi's "Alcyone", a lovely pattern that was getting lost in the color changes. *sigh* Then I cast on Romi's "Diane"; much better :) I have no idea what the yardage of the yarn was though. I knit more wedges (13 instead of the pattern stated 9) and used 58g of the 101g skein. That says to me I had a lot more than the assumed 410-420yds in the skein! Maybe it was a finer weight than I thought? Anyway, it looks marvelous and I finished it on March 30 :)
I completed my "2015-16 CrackerHabs" ("Crackerjack" by Stacey Simpson Duke, Ravelry download) scarf on April 10, the day after the Canadiens' final game of the season. Unfortunately, no playoffs for the Boys this season :( That kind of bummed me out, after the way the season started. I digress. After knitting the last game rnds, I did a single black purl ridge. Keeping the black as my background color and adding in red for the pattern, I knit in the words "Habs 2015-16", followed by a single ridge of black and ended it with the same border I used to start the piece (working flat): 2 rows of each color: red, white, blue, white, red.
Have I quit knitting since April? No, I've knit a few gifty things that I won't get into in case certain parties are reading ;) And I've been trying to get a bag (tentatively called "Watch the Clock") and a sweater (por moi, s'il vous plait lol) out of my wee little head and onto the needles/ pages of my design notebook. Also have been getting in a few rows on my "Kinelea Lace" as mentioned in my last post.
So that's how my 2016 has been shaping up in the knitting world. Hope your's is going along well, too :)

They say bad luck comes in 3s...
Oh dear. Where to start? As someone (Lewis Carroll?) once wrote, start and at the beginning and when you come to the end, stop. So here goes.
The 12th of January saw melting in the morning on my way to work. By lunchtime it was freezing rain and light snow was falling by the time I got off at 2. My first mistake was thinking it was fine to walk home. The second was taking the little cut through by the Bare Mountain trail. I fell. And once again landed on my left hand. Only this time I felt a pop. I took off my mitten to reveal the already bruising and swelling hand. Uh oh. I picked myself off, texted Roomie I was on my way back up the hill to go to the Emergency and slowly made my way back up passed work. Long story short, I cracked a bone in my hand and spent 11days in a splint/half cast and a further 4 weeks in a full cast. There was also soft tissue damage, again. Have to wear a tensor bandage around it if I'm at work still. Cast has been off 12 days today.
As if January wasn't sucking enough, there was heavy rains on the 25th. And with the ground frozen guess where the water decided to go? The joys of a basement apartment :( We got about 2" of water, which wasn't as bad as some but still bad enough. And I was at work when it happened. With a two-day-old full cast on my dominant hand. Oy. Long story short on this: we wound up moving to a lovely semi detached in a much more central location (15-20mins to work instead of an hour- hour+10).
As you can maybe guess, January was *not* my favorite month. And enter February. Not too bad until the cast came off. Because of soft tissue damage taking longer to heal, I have a tensor wrapped around that hand/wrist at work. And two days after the cast came off I was hurrying to fill an order for several hot chocolates (mini rant: why do people come through drive thru and order huge orders?? Seriously, up to 4 drinks, fine. But 12? 15? And then complain that service is slow? You try doing your order, buddy. Let's see if you can fill it in under 2mins. Bet it would take you 10! Sorry, readers. end rant). Here's an interesting thing about hot chocolate: it's hot. And when it splashes back on a bandaged hand, it burns. And continues burning until the bandage can be pulled off and hand plunged under cold water. And an ice bath *will* prevent further damage but nasty blisters do form. Guess who gets hot chocolate burn scars down her thumb? Oy very.
2015 hasn't been too kind so far, but we're settling in and making the new place a home. The cats love the big windows and running up and down stairs (it's two stories plus full basement). I decided yesterday I was going to use the wool wash on two projects that got soaked in the flood and maybe work on one. I had tried to dry them in the damp apartment but not much luck so had put them back in their respective project bags (also soaked) and put both into a plastic bag *with* my bottle of Eucalan. And yesterday I made a discovery: that plastic bag never made it here :( It must've gotten shifted in all the confusion and wound up on the garbage pile :( So my lovely Carson shawl is no more :(
Even worse, the bag I was using for it was the bag I knit in 1999 to carry my softshoes, notebook and pen when I first started taking Irish dance. My lovely pale blue cabled bag that Ita (my first dance teacher, who passed from cancer in 2004) thought was such a clever thing and never failed to show people.
Ok, 2015, enough bad things. Can we now get on with the good stuff? Maybe a lottery win? Hint hint lol

End of 2014 roundup
So, to start off, I wrote a post back in Oct, using the app, that apparently never published :( *sigh* Have I ever explained that technology doesn't like me very much?
Anywho, I was checking Ravelry this morning, trying to decide what WIP(s) to work on when I figured I should check this year's FO total. Can I have a drumroll, please? ;)
7!! Admittedly, they're all small things, but I completed 7 projects in 2014 :) Which means I passed my knitting goal :) Lovely feeling that.
My other goals didn't fair so well. I seemed to have been sick more often than not this year (just over a 4 day bout of flu) so my dance practice goal was never in the running. And my weight loss has been slim to none, although everyone says I look smaller. The common assumption is I've gained muscle. Whatever's going on, I'm still hovering around that last 20lbs I wanted to lose.
Now, as all good end of year posts do, I must look towards 2015 is the New Year and muse about what I can accomplish.
On the knitting side: I don't think 5 projects of a little more substance is out of line. Especially if I get some of these WIPs out of the way ;) Daydreams in Lace jacket, I'm looking at you. You too, Carson shawl.
Dance and weight loss: I'm lumping these two together because I firmly believe they are key to one another. Roomies and I have a budget and plan in place to be living in Town before September. And that will mean Síle back in a dance studio working her tootsies off :) And that combined with walking around the pretty city, I think, is going to help me get the weight under control :) Also, I'm much happier when I dance and that inspires me to be creative in my knitting and other things too. It's all good :)
So, that's my basic hopes for 2015 :) I want to wish everyone a great New Year and may all your projects turn out as planned ;)

Who Wants Pit-chers?
I finished Daphne more than a month ago. And you all still haven't seen the finished beauty. And I started/finished another Pimpelliese in that time too. And I have a ton of progress pics of my new blankie which shock of all shocks I'm crocheting. So today's post is gonna be all about pit-chers of the lovely yarny creations surrounding me. And as further proof of yarniness, I'm typing this while wearing my "piquant" tank from the Knitty store :) Let's dive into the goodies now!
Pit-cher #1: Daphne is finished and being modeled (somewhat scarily) by moi. Turned out quite nicely, I think. Such a different construction method working side-to-side. Not a difficult knit at all, although I do recommend having a couple row counters on the go for this one. Project details on Ravelry under "Opa!"
Pit-chers 2-5: Pimpelliese #6 aka Easy-peasy Scarfy-dealy. Since me and Roomie/Sis decided to go into Town and visit Big Sis #2 for their mutual birthday weekend, I needed a little something to knit on the two-hour drive each way and keep my hands from too much snacking while there. Hence another Peasy was cast-on. As always, such an awesome pattern. (Shared the pattern with Big Sis #2 as she not only knits but spins and thought it lovely and full of possibilities :) ) This is some hand-dyed I brought with me on my trek East that I had bought at Golden Willow in Regina. Project details on Ravelry under "St. John's Waltz (Easy-Peasy Scarfy-Dealy #6)"
Pit-chers 6-12: Giant Granny (from the Bernat Satin booklet "Around the Seasons Afghans"). Of course color changes have been made and a yarn substitution. Red Heart Shimmer and Bernat Satin Sparkle work really lovely together. Project details on Ravelry under "Not Gran's Blankie"

Oh Mys
Soooo...
Yeah, I guess I'm just not very good at this whole blog thing. But I do have pics to share! And one is even an FO; we don't see too many of those around here lately. Remember, project details are all in my notebook on Ravelry username knit-dance-repeat
Let's start with said FO: Sweet Little Cats Paw v2.0 :) Got this done in May happily :) photo 1 is the front and photo 2 the back. I'm quite pleased
I have picked up Wingspan (Ravelry; designer's name eludes me) recently and done a bit more (photo 3). The constant garter st gets to me after a bit though.
Which is why I have Day Dreams in Lace otn :) (Knitter's magazine; Brooke Nico) Here's a close-up of the yoke (photo 4) and an in progress shot (photo 5). Am almost to the repeating section of chart C :)
Of course finishing SLCPv2.0 meant I *had* to cast on something new. I chose Tempting (knitty.com; again designer name is eluding me). And like the Wingspan, it is in a constant pattern throughout (in this case ribbing) which nearly puts me to sleep if I do it too long. *sigh* But I do have progress to show (photo 6). AND I bought ribbons to swap out according to my mood (photo 7). Ribbon is good incentive I think ;)

Pain
Well, those games are a little better than half over and that means that the Ravellenic Games are too. Sadly, I don't see any medals in my future these games *sigh* I've been having trouble with my left wrist since June. The heat and humidity combined with work are making it painful to even move my hand, let alone actually use it for doing something. As things stand right now, I have half of the "Wings of Victory" completed; the socks aren't even cast-on. I'm sorry to let down my teams (Bob and Newfoundland/Labrador) but I'm starting to get a little scared that this isn't going away. I have plans to see a doctor asap. So for now I'm going to put up some pics I took of some projects and maybe one of Roomie's cat might slip in ;) lol

Where Has Time Got To?!
Seriously?! The Ravellenic Games start tonight!!!! Cast On is at 5:30pm here in Newfoundland!! I'll be at work :P But I will cast-on my fabulous "Wings of Victory" (pattern: Wingspan; yarn: Elann Sock It To Me dankai) when I get home 10-ish.
And how is it possible that NEXT weekend is Torbay250?! I have to get the sweater I'm crocheting for that done, people!!!! (pattern: Circle Top, designer: Mari Lynn Patrick, magazine: VogueKnitting Crochet special issue 2012) I nearly have the front done and I plan to be creative with the back to make it more open and go faster ;) Leave it to me to improvise on a design when #1 I suck at crochet. #2 this is quite an advanced pattern for my skill set & to top it off #3 I have a serious deadline!!!!
I needs my head examined, people!!!!

(pattern: Circle Top, designer: Mari Lynn Patrick, magazine: VogueKnitting Crochet special issue 2012) I nearly have the front done and I plan to be creative with the back to make it more open and go faster ;) Leave it to me to improvise on a design when #1 I suck at crochet. #2 this is quite an advanced pattern for my skill set & to top it off #3 I have a serious deadline!!!!

Read All About It!
So, I noticed that there's a new tool on blogger: a translation bar. I've added it just above my twitter updates and tags list. Now my blathering can be read in many languages!
On to more interesting news: Alan Doyle (GBS frontman and all-round nice guy) saw the release of his solo album, "Boy on Bridge" yesterday. May I just add my own congrats on top of all the others? It's really good and available on iTunes. He tweeted last night that it reached the iTunes Canada third spot :) Awesome job. Have to say there are certain songs that have really caught my ear, so I recommend checking out: "I've Seen a Little" (it's a rocker), "My Day" (a reggae feel), "Perfect Excuse" (another rocker), "Where the Nightingales Sing" (beautiful waltz), "Belong" (accapella OMG!)... Okay, just check out the whole album and decide for yourself what you like. I firmly believe that you'll like at least one song on this album, unless the only thing you listen to is rap. Then you're out of luck.
On the knitting front: Roomie's Sis liked the sweater and booties knit by moi :) So glad she did; I really wasn't sure how they'd be recieved even though Roomie assured my her Sis would like them. But I'm a worrier. Anyway, no cause to worry; gift received and liked :)
Back to my own knitting: the Aquaphobia socks and the Daydreams in Lace jacket. And getting my Ravelympics projects queued, tagged and put in order. I've decided to lead off with the "Wingspan" (project to be named Wings of Victory) for TeamBob (Group: For the Love of Bob). I have some lovely KnitPicks Shadow that I think will look fabulous. Or maybe I'll get to a yarnstore when me and Roomie head into Town in June. Probably not though as time is a little pressed. I digress. The second project I have lined up is "Square Feet" (haven't come up with a name yet) for TeamNL2012 (Group: Newfoundland and Labrador Crafters). It's a cute pair of socks.
Now how's this for tying together two things I love: the Ravelympics start on July 27 at 4pm NDT and end on August 12. Me and Roomie will be heading to Torbay, NL on August 4th to see Jimmy Rankin, The Trews and Great Big Sea in concert for the Torbay250 celebrations. Who is going to be KIPing as close to the front of the audience as she can get? I'll let you figure that out...

Happy New Year (yeah it's late)
I'm afraid my computer is still down with a virus; wonder if its the same one that I had just before Christmas? ;)
It appears that I'll be having a bit of an adventure soon enough. An opportunity has come my way to relocate to the lovely province of Newfoundland and I find it impossible to let it pass. I know I always said I'd stay in Saskatchewan but things do change as one gets older. I've got a birthday looming and another year of nothing in my personal life to keep me here. That said, I will miss certain things but such is life.
On the knitting front, pictures of my Dahlia sweater can be seen above in the montage. It turned out beautifully and despite having 5 days of illness and not being able to knit, I finished it in exactly one month :) Currently working on a Clapotis (knitty.com, designer Kate Gilbert) for a birthday present and will start a pair of "smoking mitts" for a friend. They have a seperate fore-finger and thumb so you can do things outside in cold weather without removing your mitts and freezing your hands. Very practical.
I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on our lovely January weather. We've had windchill temperatures down to -47C this week. And just over a week before that we were sitting at +6C. Gotta love Saskatchewan winters lol Today, we're sitting at -11C; -22C with the windchill, so kind of balmy ;)
The fur-gang is fine and dandy. Am trying to locate a carrier of the required size so I can include Maureen on my adventure East. You honestly don't expect me to leave her behind, do you?
I think that's all my news that's fit to type. Keep warm all!

I *Was* Doing Well...
Until my computer caught a virus and has been off for the passed bit. But I have lots of knitting finished :)
First off, both the Sparkle Sparkle Wings and the Shimmering Leaves were well received by H and S respectively :) I also started and finished another "Pimpeliesse" (entitled "Ocean's 11 Peasy-easy Scarfy-dealy" on Rav) for this year's GBS WinterAngels Gift Swap :) It turned out fabulous :) I used Zitron Trekking HandArt Flame in "sanisbar"; blues and greens, very oceany.
On a sad note, I've lost my Peasy-easy Scarfy-dealy :( Wore it to work Monday and it's disappeared no-one has seen it and I've checked the lost & founds of the mall, bus and library :(
On to happier events: I finished "Twisted Leaves" (knitty.com/Twisted by Jodie Gordon Lucas) :) I now have a properly fitting pair of my own handknit socks to enjoy this winter :)
Progress is slow but steady on both "Galaxy 660" (pattern: In The Pink) and "Kinelea Lace" (pattern: Ardrum) and I'm happy to say I'm taking a break from lace by knitting a sweater for myself. Currently titled "Teal Sweater" on my projects page, it's the "Dahlia" from knitty.com (designer: Mary Weaver) not sure which issue but it was 2007. It's a lovely top-down raglan with cabling in the 'skirt'. Am using Bernat Natural Blends Wool Blend in "New Teal" which is a lovely rich tone :)
I have 3 minutes left in my library time so I will tag this the next time I get a chance.

I'm bad
I am. I completely have no desire to work on the Dianna. I got the idea into my head for my next design and that's what I want to do: start work on the new design. I'm a very bad friend. The Dianna is supposed to be a present for someone's birthday. sigh
If I hadn't seen and bought the new yarn last night this wouldn't have happened. I picked up 6 balls of Bernat Mosaic in "optimistic" (kind of a rainbow colorway) with no thought of a project in mind. Then today at the library an idea struck. That's all I'm gonna say for now. I got the crazy idea that I may try to submit this one to knitty or something. Silly me. The only one of my designs anyone actually knits is one of the hats and a friend of mine has knit four of the twelve listed on Ravelry lol Ah, a girl can dream. Off to finish the bands on the SLCP :) Pics soon, I promise. Then I swear I'm going to work on the Dianna.

Progress on WIP Challenge Week
Attended a stitch & laugh at one of the ladies from the ICoR house tonight. Oh did we laugh :) And I got the 2nd sleeve done on my SLCP :) Just need to knit the bands before Saturday :) I confess though: I haven't even picked up Dianna this week. Oh well, soon that will be my focus project.

Fall is here!!
Autumn is here and the knitting is easy...
Ok, maybe not easy lol But progress of all kinds can be reported on most projects.
First up "Sweet Little Cat's Paw": I finished the back and the right sleeve :) Working like a dervish on the left sleeve; I really wanna wear it!!
"Galaxy 660": restarted on 3.25mm bamboo needles last Sunday. Going awesome :) Am already onto a circ and rnd 38 :)
Present #1 ie Shimmering is going well. Currently working on it. Started a new section today.
Present #2 ie Sparkle, Sparkle I haven't worked on for a bit. I admit to being distracted by SLCP for nearly a month.
As you can see, cooler weather has inspired me a bit. And the recent magazines I've picked up have had some really beautiful patterns too. Today, I bought The Knitter issue 35; have queued 4 patterns and favorited 2 others. All the fall magazines have been like that. Also worth mentioning in my queue: "Quercus" from Knitty First Fall 2011. I'll buy extra wool and lengthen the sleeves. Thinking of a nice blue or purple in Plymouth Galway... But that will be for later.

I Got a Little Distracted...
So here I am, a month or so later. The birthday pressies are all well under way. Sparkle, Sparkle is a touch over half done & Shimmering is a little less than halfways. Of course, knitting presents for people you see on a regular basis leads to a problem: on the days I will see them, do I forgo knitting or have another project? I opt for the latter. My lovely decoy projects are almost always for me & sometimes take on a life of their own.
Which is the situation I find myself in now. I decided Kay Meador's "Sweet Little Nothing" (free pattern on Rav; it's really cute!) would be a perfect thing to wear when mornings are cooler & I wait for the bus. And I have some Bernat Satin in "foliage" (a bright green) that will knit up nice & be washable should some fruit get spilt on it at work. Of course, being a sweet & simple pattern, I immediately had to modify it: I added Cat's Paw motifs to it, willy-nilly. You can see the results on my project page; it's listed as "Sweet Little Cat's Paw". Here's a pic:
It needs a bit more length which I'll be using the small lace from Cherl Oberle's "Irish Diamond Shawl" to achieve. It's one of my favorite lace patterns, ever.
So my little jacket is nearly done & I've still got quite a bit of work to do on the girls' presents. And I haven't done anything overly crazy lately, so....
Go do a Rav search for "In The Pink" by Izzy ?; It's a lace shawl. It's a wow pattern. I have 2 lovely balls of Marks & Katten Fame Trend that are dying to be knit up. I started it once & then frogged it as the needle size wasn't right for the yarn. I did take a pic of that first try though. I need to get some bamboo dpns in 3.75 or 3.5; my nickel plated ones are too slippery to get it started again.
I've dubbed this one "Galaxy 660" as the colorway is 660 & the finished piece resembles a galaxy or nebula or some-such. A quick peek at the project gallery for the pattern will give you all sorts of astronomical names :)

No, I Haven't Forgotten about Knitting
With all my GBS challenge posts, some of you (if there are any) might be concerned about my knitting progress. Have no fears; I'm knitting like a demon over here.
My "Dragon Wing" (Patti Winters, Knitty First Fall 2011) is on hold after completing the right wing. I've decided to get some birthday pressies done before completing it. That may seem odd but there ya go lol
Two of the gift recipients may be reading these words so I'm going to be mean & refer you to Rav ;) Heehee. The first project I've started I entitled "Sparkle, Sparkle" and it's almost to the halfway point. Lovely pattern & yarn. The yarn is Lion Brand "Vanna's Glamour", very soft with a twist of sparkle through it.
I may have to put this one up a bit to have it done in time but there's a fella I'm thinking needs a hat. And what hat would be better than my own "Anchors & Ropes"? None! lol (Shameless plug!!! Go look at it! lol)
Next up, check my queue & you'll find a pattern entitled "Dianna". Doesn't that look cool? I think it'll look neat in the yarn I've chosen.
Haven't chosen yarn or pattern for Mom's pressie yet. Thinking I may skip her knit gift this year just because of time constraints. I'll be taking 2 dance classes this fall plus work & I'm toying with ideas for a new design, possibly more lace. Stay tuned!

Trips to the Frogpond & other Adventures
To start off, I don't recall making an announcement about this. CaoraCniotala on Ravelry, is no more. I changed my RavID to knit-dance-repeat in January. Now everyone can say & spell my name :) I'd like to thank sheepwokking ie Lindsay from knit-night, for uploading a pic for my Ravatar. Cathleen the (knitted) Irish dancer now smiles at everyone. Quite appropriate with the new name, don't you think?
I've been doing some traveling this year; to the Frogpond :p I had started "Eire" by Renee Leverington (Goddess Knits) last June. I was using Fibranatura's "Yummy" in lagoon (shades of green). Love the pattern. Love the yarn. The two have very seperate destinies. Frogged! I have started "Twisted" by Jodie Gordon Lucas (Knitty.com spring&summer 2010) with the "Yummy" and am soooo happy with the results :) I knit a pair of these for Mom's birthday using Punta Yarns' "Merisock Hand Painted" in shades of purple and they turned out fabulous! ("Twisted Grapes" in my Rav notebook) This is an awesome pattern & I encourage you to check it out if you enjoy sock knitting.
The Spring 2011 issue of InterweaveKnits has a number of must makes in it. Topping my list is the "Diminishing Gore Skirt" by Gwen Bortner. I cast-on using Bernat "Satin" in sultana (reddy-purple) Got nearly done the first tier of rectangles (it's done in entrelac), when I decided to try it on. Oh. My. Goodness!!!It was at least 10" too large! And I had gone down a pattern size to accomodate the heavier weight yarn :( Frogpond!
I acquired a Namaste Hip Holster a few weeks ago :) Love it!!! It's become my purse! I have id, debit card, keys & phone in the front pocket & a WIP in the larger section; perfect!
Speaking of WIPs, I've got a few ;) In addition to "Twisted", I'm working on "Ardrum" by Aisling M. Doonan; check her out on Ravelry. She designs gorgeous lace shawls. This is the 2nd of her designs I've done. Am using Fiddlesticks Knitting "Exquisite" in sapphire & this yarn is definitely that! It's a silk/merino blend in lace weight & is absolute heaven to work with :) I do recommend bamboo or other "sticky" needles. Also started "Abotanicity" by Cassie Rovitti (knitty.com winter 2007) for myself. Using some merino/nylon hand-dyed at my LYS. It's knitting up well :) Last active WIP is my Pinwheel Sweater (Shelley Mackie, Elann.com) which is also part of a KAL with my knit-night bunch. I'm using 5 shades of blue + charcoal & black in Briggs & Little "Heritage" & "Regal". This ones not going so well; I'm completely bored by it. Can't even force myself to pick it up. I'm about half through the second last color for the body & still have to go back & do the sleeves. Love the way it looks; just can't take the never ending plain rnds. I've got close to 500 sts in a rnd now, so a single rnd takes forever :P
My other adventures include walking over to Chapter's to check out the new books & magazines. In the past few weeks, I've added the following: "Entree to Entrelac" by Gwen Bortner, "A Knitting Wrapsody" by Kristin Omdahl & (last night) "Knitting Knee-Highs: Sock Styles from Classic to Contemporary" by Barb Brown. I love entrelac knitting, so it was only natural To get "Entree to Entrelac". I fell in love with 4 or 5 patterns in "Knitting Wrapsody"; the "Infinity Cardi-Wrap" in particular. And I needed a new sock book ;) This one is cool in that all the patterns are for knee-highs & she's included adaptations for nearly all the patterns to make them standard or ankle length; that triples the number of patterns!!! Yay!!! More socks!!!
Speaking of more socks, there are several in the Spring + Summer 2011 Knitty.com. It went up earlier this week :) I need to check that out further...

I acquired a Namaste Hip Holster a few weeks ago :) Love it!!! It's become my purse! I have id, debit card, keys & phone in the front pocket & a WIP in the larger section; perfect!
Speaking of WIPs, I've got a few ;) In addition to "Twisted", I'm working on "Ardrum" by Aisling M. Doonan; check her out on Ravelry. She designs gorgeous lace shawls. This is the 2nd of her designs I've done. Am using Fiddlesticks Knitting "Exquisite" in sapphire & this yarn is definitely that! It's a silk/merino blend in lace weight & is absolute heaven to work with :) I do recommend bamboo or other "sticky" needles. Also started "Abotanicity" by Cassie Rovitti (knitty.com winter 2007) for myself. Using some merino/nylon hand-dyed at my LYS. It's knitting up well :) Last active WIP is my Pinwheel Sweater (Shelley Mackie, Elann.com) which is also part of a KAL with my knit-night bunch. I'm using 5 shades of blue + charcoal & black in Briggs & Little "Heritage" & "Regal". This ones not going so well; I'm completely bored by it. Can't even force myself to pick it up. I'm about half through the second last color for the body & still have to go back & do the sleeves. Love the way it looks; just can't take the never ending plain rnds. I've got close to 500 sts in a rnd now, so a single rnd takes forever :P
My other adventures include walking over to Chapter's to check out the new books & magazines. In the past few weeks, I've added the following: "Entree to Entrelac" by Gwen Bortner, "A Knitting Wrapsody" by Kristin Omdahl & (last night) "Knitting Knee-Highs: Sock Styles from Classic to Contemporary" by Barb Brown. I love entrelac knitting, so it was only natural To get "Entree to Entrelac". I fell in love with 4 or 5 patterns in "Knitting Wrapsody"; the "Infinity Cardi-Wrap" in particular. And I needed a new sock book ;) This one is cool in that all the patterns are for knee-highs & she's included adaptations for nearly all the patterns to make them standard or ankle length; that triples the number of patterns!!! Yay!!! More socks!!!
Speaking of more socks, there are several in the Spring + Summer 2011 Knitty.com. It went up earlier this week :) I need to check that out further...
There we go; now you know what's going on knit-wise with me. Off for more adventures, hopefully avoiding the Frogpond!
